It doesn’t just stop with electric scooters. In fact, Razor keeps coming out with new and exciting innovations for kids, it’s hard to keep up with. From early on, most kids, we included, wanted to own a go-kart. In the ’70′s we had the go-kart and mini-bike using single cylinder four-stroke engines, much like you find on lawn mowers. But in modern times, Razor takes advantage of space-age technology to downsize everything from the frame to the wheels to the drive train and the result is the Razor Ground Force.

Made with kids 8 years old and up, the super keen silver and black Razor Ground Force go-kart can go as fast as 12 miles per hour. Now before parents get too excited, that’s about as fast as most people bike. But when you’re that close to the ground, the speed is awesome, adding to the thrill of riding this lean machine. The Razor Ground Force has a quiet variable-speed, chain drive that is environmentally friendly as it uses a high-torque electric motor. Two 12 volt batteries power the Ground Force for around 45 minutes of non-stop fun.

The accelerator for the Razor Ground Force is on the steering mechanism, and the brake is a set by hand as well. Flat trails and sidewalks where permitted make for great runs on the molded aluminum wheels with solid tires. The frame is made of steel and the Ground Force comes with a shoulder strap and seat belt for added safety. It is designed to carry kids up to 140 lbs but we’ve seen larger people ride the Razor.

Fun as a Christmas present, the Razor Ground Force comes partially assembled and tools to put it together are included in the box. There is a 90 day warranty against manufacturing defects, the biggest one we noted were batteries that did not hold their charge. This is an easy fix, and most often the point of purchase will simply exchange the go-kart. Different from the electric Razor scooters, the Ground Force can be recharged in just 4 to 6 hours.

Make sure you stay in the age group as the Razor Ground Force goes too fast for younger kids. The go-kart sits low so care must be taken around cars and low hanging obstructions. And in New York, the Ground Force cannot be used on any street, highway, parking lot, sidewalk, or any area that allows public motor vehicle traffic. Remember that the go-kart has no suspension, so when you go over speed bumps you will have a sore tail bone as the seat is hard plastic. Find a smooth place and your kid will ride the Razor Ground Force everyday. It’s a wonderful gift that is well build and designed to last for many years.
